Not very long ago, an idea started growing in my mind: why don’t I try to design women’s sandals? But how should I start? Paul Smith once said: “you can find inspiration in everything, and if you can’t…look again”, and I followed his advice. So one night, listening to a chamber music concert at the theater, I watched the musicians playing and I thought of all those musical symbols used in the musical compositions like notes, pauses, musical keys, and I asked myself: why don’t I use them for shoes? At the end of the concert, I came back home, found a piece of paper and started drawing my first sandal. I was quite excited…I was starting something new…I had my pencil, my white sheet in front of me, an idea, I was drawing and…it seemed to be working! Then, I had to find somebody who could develop my sketches and actually create the sandals. So I tried to call Pietro, the owner of a factory, based in Naple, that is specialized in the production of sandals and with whom we worked for the shop for many years. We met in Rome, he looked at the my sketches and said: “hey, these are good, we can put togheter some samples for you…we could even produce your sandals..” and it was simply AMAZING to ear to these words. So, here it is: my music collection of women’s shoes,  that are comfortable, easy to wear, lovely to see (I hope), with a human experience behind them.

Non molto tempo fa, ho cominciato a pensare: perché non provare a disegnare dei sandali da donna? Ma da dove cominciare? Paul Smith una volta disse: “puoi trovare ispirazione in ogni cosa, e se non ci riesci…guarda ancora”, e ho seguito il suo consiglio. Così una sera, ascoltando un concerto di musica da camera a teatro, guardando i musicisti suonare ho pensato a tutti quei simboli musicali usati nelle composizioni musicali come note, pause, chiavi musicali, e mi sono chiesto: perché non usarli in qualche modo per le scarpe? Alla fine del concerto, sono tornato a casa, ho trovato un pezzo di carta e ho iniziato a disegnare il mio primo sandalo. Ero piuttosto emozionato… stavo iniziando qualcosa di nuovo… avevo la mia matita, il mio foglio bianco davanti a me, un'idea, stavo disegnando e… sembrava funzionare! Poi, ho dovuto trovare qualcuno che potesse sviluppare i miei schizzi e creare effettivamente i sandali. Così ho provato a chiamare Pietro, titolare di una fabbrica, con sede a Napoli, specializzata nella produzione di sandali, fornitore del nostro negozio da molti anni. Ci siamo incontrati a Roma, ha guardato i miei schizzi e ha detto: “ehi, questi sono buoni, possiamo realizzare dei campioni per te… potremmo anche produrre i tuoi sandali..” ed è stato semplicemente INCREDIBILE ascoltare queste parole. Ed eccola qua: la mia collezione musicale di scarpe da donna, comode, facili da indossare, belle da vedere (spero), con un'esperienza umana alle spalle.

As the third generation in a family of footwear traders, I have always been close to different aspects of quality and fashion and I have always been catered for the needs of the final consumer. This double perspective has allowed me to think and sketch models that pay attention to details and style, quality of materials and indispensable comfort, models that would make women feel both stylish and comfortable. Today the production is place in the expert hands of Italian craftsmen of the Marche footwear district.

Terza generazione di una famiglia di commercianti di calzature, ho sempre vissuto da vicino i diversi aspetti della moda e sono sempre stato attento alle esigenze del consumatore finale. Questa doppia prospettiva mi ha permesso di pensare e disegnare modelli attenti ai dettagli e allo stile, alla qualità dei materiali e al comfort indispensabile, modelli che facciano sentire le donne eleganti e comode. La produzione è oggi affidata alle mani esperte di artigiani italiani del distretto calzaturiero marchigiano.
